Centrifugal Blowers

Centrifugal blowers are machines that supply high-flow air at medium pressure by applying centrifugal force to the airflow via a rotating impeller. They are supplied in single- or multi-stage, direct-coupled or belt-pulley-driven options for ventilation, pneumatic conveying, combustion air supply and process cooling lines.

Why it matters

What is a centrifugal blower used for?

The standard solution for ventilation and pneumatic conveying lines that need high-flow air at medium pressure.

High-flow air/gas transfer

With the centrifugal force of the rotating impeller, it provides sufficient flow to ventilate large spaces or feed a pneumatic conveying line.

Widely used in ventilation and pneumatic conveying

Used as the standard solution in many applications such as factory ventilation, dust/chip conveying and combustion air supply.

Multi-stage types provide higher pressure

By connecting multiple impeller stages in series, pressure levels beyond the reach of single-stage blowers can be achieved.

Direct-coupled design reduces maintenance needs

In designs where the motor and impeller are connected directly by a coupling, no belt-pulley maintenance or adjustment is required.

Types

Sub-types of the centrifugal blower

All three push air with the centrifugal force of the impeller; they differ in stage count and temperature resistance.

GENERAL VENTILATION

Single-stage centrifugal blower

An economical and widely used solution for general applications with medium-pressure needs, such as factory and facility ventilation.

  • Economical solution
  • Medium pressure range
  • General ventilation
HIGH PRESSURE

Multi-stage centrifugal blower

With impeller stages connected in series, used in lines requiring higher pressure, such as pneumatic conveying.

  • High pressure capacity
  • Pneumatic conveying lines
  • Staged design
PROCESS EXHAUST

High-temperature centrifugal blower

With special impeller and casing material, suited to conveying hot process gases or exhaust air.

  • High temperature resistance
  • Process exhaust lines
  • Special material options

Selection criteria

What data determines the right centrifugal blower?

Selection cannot be made without the first two items. The rest determine the stage count and material.

ParameterWhy it mattersWhat we need from you

Flow rate

Calculated from the volume to be ventilated or the demand of the conveying line.

m³/h

Pressure (static + dynamic)

Calculated based on duct resistance and conveying line elevation.

Pa

Air/gas temperature and content

Determines the impeller and casing material.

°C + chemical content

Installation/mounting

Horizontal or vertical mounting, duct connection orientation.

Mounting type

Drive type

Preference for direct-coupled or belt-pulley drive.

Drive type

Noise/vibration limit

A silencer may be needed if the facility has an in-house noise standard.

dB limit

This is all we need for a quote

It is fine if you do not have all of it. We will fill in the rest together with you.

FAQ

Questions from the field

The questions we encounter most often during the centrifugal blower quotation stage.

What is the difference between a centrifugal blower and a Roots blower?

A centrifugal blower accelerates air with centrifugal force to provide high flow at medium pressure; a Roots blower, with its positive-displacement design, delivers constant volumetric flow at a higher pressure differential.

Which pressure range should it be chosen for?

It is generally preferred for medium-pressure needs in the 1000-12,000 Pa range; for higher pressure, a multi-stage type or a Roots blower is considered instead.

How is noise reduced?

Noise level is brought in line with the facility standard through intake/discharge silencers, vibration isolators and duct insulation.

How often does it need maintenance?

The bearing and belt-pulley (if present) are checked periodically; direct-coupled designs need less maintenance.

Do you only serve Istanbul?

No. While our office is on Istanbul's Anatolian side (Ataşehir), we supply and ship across Istanbul's European side, the surrounding provinces and the Marmara region, and Turkey as a whole — covering your equipment end to end, from a single source.
