Smooths out pressure fluctuation
During sudden spikes in air demand, the receiver feeds the system with its stored air; pressure fluctuation at the compressor outlet is reduced.
Product group · Pressure Vessels
Air receivers store compressed air from the compressor, smoothing out pressure fluctuation and preventing the compressor from cycling on unnecessarily; they also let part of the moisture in the air condense and separate out. At Denfor Endüstriyel, we supply air receivers in ST-37 carbon steel or stainless shells, together with a safety relief valve, pressure gauge and drain valve.

Why it matters
It stores compressed air from the compressor, smoothing out pressure fluctuations and protecting compressor life.
During sudden spikes in air demand, the receiver feeds the system with its stored air; pressure fluctuation at the compressor outlet is reduced.
A sufficiently sized receiver lets the compressor run less often and for longer stretches, reducing fatigue from frequent start-stop cycling.
Some of the moisture in compressed air condenses inside the receiver and can be drained from the bottom discharge point, reducing the moisture load further down the line.
Every receiver is supplied with a safety relief valve to keep it within its pressure limit and a pressure gauge to monitor the instantaneous pressure.
Types
All three store compressed air; what differs is shell material and area of use.
The most widely used standard solution in general pneumatic systems and process lines, economical and durable.
Used in food and pharmaceutical facilities, on lines the compressed air contacts, to reduce the risk of corrosion and contamination.
Supplied as a vertical (space-saving) or horizontal (low-height) shell option to suit the boiler room/compressor room layout.
Selection criteria
Selection cannot be made without the first two items. The rest determine shell material and fittings.
Volume
Calculated from compressor capacity and instantaneous demand variation.
L
Working pressure
Must match the compressor's outlet pressure and the system's demand.

Shell material
Carbon steel for general use, stainless preferred in food/pharmaceutical facilities.

Mounting orientation
Vertical is preferred if floor space is limited, horizontal if headroom is limited.

Create a quote requestFAQ
The questions we encounter most often at the air receiver quote stage.
It is calculated from the compressor's capacity, the system's instantaneous demand variation and the desired compressor run/stop duration; insufficient volume causes the compressor to cycle on and off frequently.
ST-37 carbon steel is sufficient and economical for general pneumatic systems; stainless should be preferred when the compressed air contacts a line requiring hygiene, such as food or pharmaceuticals.
As pressure vessels, air receivers must undergo periodic pressure testing and inspection under the relevant regulations; this process matters for operating safety.
A vertical model suits a compressor room with limited floor space, a horizontal model suits limited ceiling height; volume and fittings stay the same, only the shell orientation changes.
