No mechanical seal — leak risk disappears
The drive between motor and impeller is provided by a magnetic field; there is no such thing as seal wear or a seal leak.
Product group · Flow Transfer Products
Magnetic-coupled pumps are fully leak-free centrifugal pumps that drive the impeller through a magnetic coupling, with no mechanical seal between motor and impeller. They are preferred for the safe transfer of acids, bases and other corrosive chemicals, for a design that eliminates leak risk entirely; supplied with PP, PVDF or PFA-lined casing options.

Why it matters
Having no mechanical seal, it carries acids and corrosive chemicals with no leak risk.
The drive between motor and impeller is provided by a magnetic field; there is no such thing as seal wear or a seal leak.
With PP, PVDF or PFA-lined casing options, it gives high chemical resistance against strong acids and bases.
With no wearing seal part, periodic seal replacement and the associated maintenance cost disappear.
If the pump is overloaded, the magnetic coupling slips, protecting the motor and pump from possible mechanical damage.
Types
All three run seal-less; what sets them apart is the casing material and resistance level.
A lightweight, economical solution for transferring moderately corrosive acids and chemicals.
Preferred against very strong acids and corrosive chemicals for the superior chemical resistance of its PFA lining.
Used on process lines that need high temperature and pressure, for the mechanical strength of its metallic casing.
Selection criteria
Without the first two points, selection cannot be made. The rest determine the casing material and safety elements.
Fluid chemical compatibility
The type and concentration of the acid/base determines the casing material.

The questions we hear most often when quoting magnetic-coupled pumps.
Pumps with a mechanical seal carry a leak risk as the seal wears over time; with magnetic-coupled pumps this risk disappears entirely, which increases safety with corrosive and hazardous chemicals.
This depends on the casing material; PVDF and PFA-lined types show high resistance to strong acids, bases and oxidizing chemicals.
In standard types, prolonged dry running can overheat the magnetic coupling; on critical lines, dry-run protection (a level switch) is recommended.
Since there is no seal, maintenance needs are low; the bearings and magnetic coupling should still be checked periodically.
