Electricity-free operation, safe for ATEX environments
Because it runs on compressed air, it carries no spark risk; used safely in facilities classified for paint, solvent and explosive atmospheres.

Air-operated diaphragm pumps (AODD) are positive-displacement pumps driven by compressed air, needing no electricity and tolerant of dry running. They are preferred for transferring corrosive, viscous or particle-laden fluids, with the advantage of safe use in explosive atmospheres; supplied with plastic (PP/PVDF) or metallic (aluminum/stainless) casing options.

Why it matters
It gives safe transfer without electricity, in explosive atmospheres and with corrosive fluids.
Because it runs on compressed air, it carries no spark risk; used safely in facilities classified for paint, solvent and explosive atmospheres.
The pump can keep running undamaged even when the tank is empty or the fluid is interrupted; no automatic shut-off is needed.
With large flow passages and particle tolerance, it carries sludge, paint and corrosive chemicals without clogging.
Apart from the diaphragm and valve balls, there are no wearing parts; maintenance can be done quickly without special equipment.
Types
All three run on compressed air; what sets them apart is the casing material and resistance level.
The standard solution for general-purpose transfer of water, oil and moderately corrosive fluids.
Preferred on process lines needing higher pressure and wear resistance, for the mechanical strength of its metallic casing.
Offers high chemical resistance against acids and corrosive chemicals; used on chemical storage and filling lines.
Selection criteria
Without the first two points, selection cannot be made. The rest determine the material and diaphragm type.
Flow rate
Calculated from the line's demand and the air-supply capacity.
m³/h
Suction lift
The suction distance from the pump to the tank level.
m
Fluid chemical compatibility
Determines the casing and diaphragm material.
Chemical type
Viscosity/particle content
The flow passage size and valve type are chosen based on this.

Air-supply capacity
The existing compressor's pressure and flow rate.

Area classification (ATEX requirement)
A certified model is needed if the area has an explosive-atmosphere classification.

The questions we hear most often when quoting air-operated diaphragm pumps.
Because it carries no spark risk, it can be used safely in facilities classified for paint, solvent and other explosive atmospheres, without the extra certification an electric pump would need.
No, this is one of the key advantages of AODD pumps; the pump stops when the tank runs empty or the air supply is cut, and resumes working without issue once the fluid returns.
Depending on the fluid's chemical compatibility and temperature, a diaphragm is chosen from options such as NBR, EPDM, Viton (FKM) or PTFE-lined.
It varies with the pump's flow rate and line pressure; compressor capacity is also a limiting factor in pump selection.
No. While our office is on Istanbul's Anatolian side (Ataşehir), we supply and ship across Istanbul's European side, the surrounding provinces and the Marmara region, and Turkey as a whole — covering your equipment end to end, from a single source.
Next step
Share the type of fluid and your existing air-supply capacity, and let's determine together the right AODD pump for your line.
